Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito announced that the U.S. Department of Education will release the remaining anticipated education formula funding to states. This decision follows a letter sent by Senator Capito and her Republican colleagues to Russell Vought, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget (OMB), advocating for the release of this funding.
On July 16, after receiving the letter, OMB Director Vought informed Senator Capito that funds supporting 21st Century Community Learning Centers would be released. The announcement today confirms that all remaining requested funding is now available.
Senator Capito stated, “The education formula funding included in the FY2025 Continuing Resolution Act supports critical programs that so many rely on… I made this clear to OMB Director Vought and was glad he followed through on my request to release all of the education formula dollars that states across the country are expecting to receive.”
These funds support programs such as after-school and summer activities for children, enabling parents to work and contribute economically. They also aid adult learners in gaining employment skills or transitioning into further education.
