U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, former chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, participated in the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Monarch Hall at the Advanced Training Center in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. The event was also attended by Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and U.S. Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Rodney Scott, along with Congressman Riley Moore.
Senator Capito has been instrumental in securing federal funding for Monarch Hall during her tenure on the subcommittee. This facility aims to enhance training capacity for U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other Homeland Security personnel to address evolving threats at national borders.
“Facilities like Monarch Hall are critical to ensuring that the men and women who protect our homeland receive the cutting-edge training they need,” stated Senator Capito. She expressed gratitude towards Secretary Noem and Commissioner Scott for their presence at the ceremony.
Secretary Noem praised Senator Capito’s effectiveness, saying, “I believe she is going to go down in history as one of the most effective senators that this country has ever seen.” Commissioner Scott echoed these sentiments, highlighting Senator Capito’s support beyond financial appropriations.
The ceremony underscored the federal government’s commitment to supporting law enforcement training initiatives. Senator Capito has visited the facility multiple times over recent years.
