The One Big Beautiful Bill, signed into law on July 4th, aims to make significant investments in American families by expanding access to childcare and reinforcing Republican commitments to life protection at all ages.
Senator Shelley Moore Capito emphasized the bill’s focus on family support. “The One Big Beautiful Bill is a family bill through and through. By expanding the child tax credit, setting up savings accounts for newborns, and making it easier for employers to provide childcare, Republicans are delivering on our promise to strengthen and support American families,” she stated. She highlighted the importance of childcare provisions for West Virginians, noting that over 25,000 children under six require but lack access to childcare.
Key benefits for West Virginia include enhancements to the Child and Dependent Care Tax Credit (CDCTC), establishment of workforce Pell grants for short-term programs, improvements in Employer-Provided Child Care (45F), and expansion of Dependent Care Assistance Plans (DCAP).
Sarah Rittling from the First Five Years Fund praised these efforts: “Efforts to improve and expand child care-related tax credits are a vital and long-overdue step forward for families and children.” She acknowledged Senator Capito’s leadership in ensuring these measures were included in the final reconciliation package.
