U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, a key figure on the Senate Appropriations Committee, has voted in favor of a continuing resolution to avert a government shutdown. This decision aims to ensure that Americans are not adversely affected by what she describes as “Democrat dysfunction.”

Senator Capito expressed relief over avoiding the shutdown but criticized previous Senate leadership. She stated, “When Senator Schumer was running the show just months ago, he refused to do his job and neglected to consider a single one of our bipartisan Appropriations bills on the Senate floor.” According to Capito, these delays have led to uncertainty for families and businesses across West Virginia and the nation.

Looking forward, Senator Capito is optimistic about working with the new Republican majority in both legislative chambers alongside President Trump. She hopes this collaboration will prevent similar situations in the future and provide more stability for Americans.

The approved continuing resolution funds government operations through September 30, 2025. It also allocates resources for veterans, border security, air traffic control operations, families, and service members.
