Rep. Carol Miller, who represents West Virginia’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted several messages on her social media account addressing recent events and commemorations relevant to her constituents.
On April 3, 2026, Miller expressed condolences regarding a fatal mining incident: “I was deeply saddened to hear that one of our coal miners, Aaron Warrix, has passed following a mining incident. Please join me in praying for his family, friends, and fellow miners as they mourn this tragic loss.”
Two days later, on April 5, 2026, she shared an Easter greeting: “Wishing everyone a Happy Easter! He is risen indeed!”
On April 6, 2026, Miller marked the anniversary of a major mining disaster in the state: “Today, we honor and remember the 29 coal miners who were tragically killed in the Upper Big Branch Mine disaster 16 years ago. I am continuing to pray for their family and friends as they mourn. May we never forget these incredible West Virginians.”
Miller has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Evan Jenkins and previously held office in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2018. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1950 and currently residing in Huntington, she graduated from Columbia College in South Carolina with a BA degree.
