Rep. Carol Miller, U.S. Congresswoman representing West Virginia’s 1st district since 2019, recently shared updates on her legislative activities and community events through a series of posts on her social media account.
On September 18, 2025, Miller addressed concerns about hospital classifications in a congressional hearing. She stated, “I took part in an Oversight Subcommittee hearing to discuss the growing problem of urban, tax-exempt hospitals reclassifying as rural to receive benefits intended for our most vulnerable rural patients. Later that evening, Miller announced her support for coal industry legislation. On September 18, she wrote, “This evening, I voted YES on the National Coal Council Reestablishment Act! This bill secures America’s energy future by making the Council permanent, providing additional resources to our hardworking miners, and protecting coal – a vital resource that will continue to power our”.
In another post from September 18, Miller reflected on a memorial event at West Virginia’s Capitol: “West Virginia’s Capitol was overflowing tonight with people celebrating the life and impact of Charlie Kirk. His message resonated all across our great nation and will be carried on through generations. Please join me in continuing to pray for his wife and children.”
Miller has served in Congress since replacing Evan Jenkins in 2019 after more than a decade in the West Virginia House of Delegates (2006-2018). Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1950 and currently residing in Huntington at age 72, she is also an alumna of Columbia College in South Carolina (1972).
