U.S. Representative Carol Miller, who serves West Virginia’s 1st district, shared updates on her recent legislative activities and community engagements through a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) this week.
On November 7, Miller wrote about her participation in the annual C5+1 summit and a meeting with Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. She stated, “During this week’s annual C5+1 summit, I had the privilege of meeting with the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, to discuss my recent introduction of legislation to repeal the outdated Jackson-Vanik amendment. Granting Permanent Normal Trade Relations to our key”.
Two days later, on November 9, Miller addressed an emergency situation involving a missing coal miner in Nicholas County. She posted, “As rescue crews continue to search, please join me in praying for the missing coal miner in Nicholas County and all those responding to this emergency. Our miners are the backbone of our state. They work tirelessly to keep our lights on and our homes heated. I am praying for”.
On November 10, Miller highlighted her engagement with local economic leaders by posting about a meeting with the West Virginia Bankers’ Association: “This morning, I met with the West Virginia Bankers’ Association to discuss the important work they do supporting local organizations, driving economic development, and serving our communities. Thank you for all you do here in our state!”
Carol Miller has represented West Virginia’s 1st District in Congress since 2019 after succeeding Evan Jenkins. Before joining Congress, she served in the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2018. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1950 and currently residing in Huntington at age 72, Miller graduated from Columbia College in South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1972.
