Charvitha Sanjaya, an eighth-grade student at John Adams Middle School, emerged victorious in the 2025 Charleston Gazette-Mail Regional Spelling Bee. Achieving a score of 48 out of 50, the highest in this year’s online competition, Charvitha is now set to represent West Virginia at the Scripps National Spelling Bee later this year.

All participating students received accolades for their performance. The event organizers extended gratitude to teachers, principals, and staff for their contributions to the spelling bees at school and county levels.

The 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee will take place on May 27th, 28th, and 29th. More information will be available on the Scripps website from May 1st.
