For the 2022-23 school year, out-of-state tuition at BridgeValley Community & Technical College rose by 1.6%, as revealed in the most recent report, according to the latest disclosure from the National Center for Education Statistics.

West Virginia residents paid $5,132 to attend the two-year public college this year, which is $152 less than the $5,284 charged during the 2021-22 academic year.

Non-resident students were charged $11,598 in 2022-23, representing a 126% premium compared to residents. This amount increased by 1.6% from $11,415 in the previous year.

Approximately 99% of the undergraduate student body at the college are West Virginia residents, while about 1% come from other states.

Data indicates that 89% of full-time undergraduates who enrolled at BridgeValley Community & Technical College in 2022-23 received some form of student financial aid. A total of 268 students were awarded grants or scholarships amounting to $1.5 million, and 76 students took out loans exceeding $267,521.

Among all undergraduates, 965 students benefited from grants or scholarships totaling $5.6 million. Additionally, 413 students obtained federal student loans amounting to $1.7 million.

Meanwhile, student loan debt has steadily increased over the last 30 years, reaching $1.75 trillion in 2024, averaging a total of $28,950 per borrower. Federal loans make up 92% of the debt, with over half of students at both public and private four-year colleges graduating with student loans.
