Governor Patrick Morrisey announced on April 1 the opening of Amazon’s first operations facilities in Davisville and Beaver, West Virginia. The new sites are expected to bring about 500 jobs to the state, including positions for Amazon employees and delivery drivers working with local delivery service partners.

The governor said these facilities signal growth for West Virginia as it competes for major employers. “Amazon’s continued investment in West Virginia marks an important milestone for our state,” Governor Morrisey said. “These facilities in Davisville and Beaver represent more than just buildings – they’re a sign that West Virginia is growing and competing for major employers.”

The expansion will allow Amazon delivery trucks to operate within the state, leading to faster deliveries and more economic opportunities, according to Morrisey. He said, “For the first time, West Virginians will see Amazon delivery trucks operating right here at home. That means faster delivery, new jobs, and more opportunity for our communities.”

Amazon’s grand opening follows a period of significant private sector investment announcements totaling $12.8 billion since last October with over 11,000 projected jobs created statewide. Including public sector investments such as BEAD and the Rural Health Transformation Program brings those totals up to $14.3 billion invested with over 12,000 projected jobs.

Both new facilities feature small-scale fulfillment operations designed to improve access to everyday essentials like household goods and pet supplies while supporting faster shipping times—including same-day service options—for surrounding communities.

U.S. Sen. Jim Justice (R-W.Va.) has also focused on economic growth during his tenure as governor of West Virginia according to the official website. Justice champions youth programs and constituent engagement through his office according to the official website.
