Governor Patrick Morrisey announced on April 10 a new road improvement project in Capon Bridge, West Virginia, aimed at addressing long-standing infrastructure problems and supporting economic growth in Hampshire County. The announcement was made alongside Delegate David Cannon and Senator Darren Thorne.
The initiative is intended to repair a deteriorated road serving a multi-tenant business facility. The Division of Highways has been instructed to find the most cost-effective way to complete the work, which is estimated to cost around $500,000.
“Roads are vital to a growing economy because they connect our communities and make it possible for people to get to work, get to school, and spend time with their families,” Governor Morrisey said. “This project addresses a road that has been in poor condition for years and is essential to the residents and businesses who rely on it every day. We’re going to get it fixed and do it the right way.”
Officials say that since October, West Virginia has seen more than $14.3 billion in announced investments and nearly 14,000 projected jobs across both private and public sectors. Infrastructure improvements like this one are described as critical for maintaining momentum and ensuring continued community growth.
