Hillcrest Healthcare Center, owned by WV AMFM Op Company, LLC as of the first quarter of 2026, is located in Boone County, West Virginia. The facility has operated under this ownership since April 14, 2023, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

The center operates as a for-profit facility.

During that time frame, Hillcrest Healthcare Center earned an overall CMS rating of 4, surpassing the statewide nursing home average of 2.9 in West Virginia. CMS assigns these ratings based on factors including results from health inspections, staffing ratios, and the standard of resident care.

Data shows that for the first quarter of 2026, the facility served an average daily census of 87.5 residents, out of a capacity of 90 beds. The nursing home is not affiliated with a hospital.

In that period, Hillcrest Healthcare Center faced two fines totaling $25,623 and received two penalties.

Boone County had just one for-profit nursing home at this time.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate the nation’s older population continues to expand while younger age groups decrease. From 2020 to 2024, Americans ages 65 and up increased by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The older adult population has climbed sharply in the past 100 years, from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

According to a 2021 study, almost half of this age group—about 28 million people—are likely to need long-term services and supports, and more than a third may eventually require nursing home care.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education nonprofit. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
