The House of Representatives has approved the Senate Amendment to H.R. 1, known as the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act. The bill is now set to be sent to President Trump for signing into law. Congresswoman Miller expressed her support by voting in favor and speaking on the House floor.

During her speech, Miller stated: “Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong support of this Big, Beautiful Bill.” She emphasized the significance of making tax cuts permanent and preventing a year-end tax hike. According to Miller, “This bill gives the average working family a $1,300 tax cut and makes permanent the 199A small business deduction to keep our economy humming.”

The legislation aims to benefit West Virginia businesses by providing relief to gig workers and adjusting reporting thresholds. Miller added that it will also provide economic relief, secure borders, and ensure American energy dominance.

Background information reveals that over the past two years, Ways and Means Republicans have conducted hearings nationwide about the benefits of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Notably, Congresswoman Miller led efforts within the Supply Chains Tax Team as part of preparations for passing a new tax package.

The bill includes several measures advantageous for Southern West Virginia. These include making permanent deductions beneficial to small businesses comprising over 98% of West Virginia’s economy and reverting gig worker reporting thresholds back to previous standards.

Further provisions extend credits related to hydrogen production and create a Rural Hospital Stabilization Fund valued at $50 billion. It also increases both Child Tax Credit amounts and standard deductions used by most West Virginians.
