Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission seeks applicants for Mercer County judge position

The Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission (JVAC) has announced it is accepting applications to fill a vacancy in the 13th Judicial Circuit, which serves Mercer County. The opening follows the retirement of Judge William J. Sadler.

Individuals interested in applying for the judicial position must complete an application form and submit it either by email to JVAC@wv.gov or by mail to the Judicial Vacancy Advisory Commission at the Office of General Counsel to the Governor, located at the State Capitol in Charleston.

Applicants are required to send their completed forms along with any letters of recommendation or comment by 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025. Interviews for selected candidates will take place in Charleston on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
