Kanawha County Schools announced on March 31 that it will offer the Kanawha County Schools Community Education Program (KCSCEP) Summer Camp for students who were enrolled in grades K–5 during the 2025–2026 school year. The full-day child care program is scheduled to run from June 8 through August 7, with closures on June 19 and July 3 for holidays.

The summer camp aims to provide a safe and structured environment where children can participate in recreational and educational activities while their families are at work. According to the district, camps will be held Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. at four locations: Central Elementary in St. Albans, Elk Elementary Center in Elkview, Flinn Elementary in Sissonville, and Overbrook Elementary in Charleston. Enrollment is open to all K-5 students registered with Kanawha County Schools for the upcoming academic year, regardless of feeder area.

The program includes field trips such as pool visits, movies, bowling outings, and more throughout the summer. Students will receive breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily as part of their participation. Weekly private pay rates start at $140 for one child; discounts apply for multiple children within a family. There is also a $30 family registration fee with a $10 discount available to those who register by May 8.

Payment options include cash, check, debit or credit card as well as digital platforms like Procare TuitionExpress and MyProcare website or app. CONNECT/LINK payments are accepted but do not cover registration fees; copays are due weekly on Mondays or upon first attendance each week.

Registration opens April 1 via the KCSCEP website where families can download enrollment forms and handbooks before submitting them by mail, email or fax (with phone confirmation). Placement is determined on a first-come-first-served basis until sites reach capacity; waitlists will be created if necessary.
