Kanawha County Schools will begin a new direct text messaging system for bus changes starting tomorrow. The school district announced that parents and guardians of current bus riders will receive text messages when their child’s bus number or route changes.
All families with students who ride the bus are set to get a confirmation message in the morning to ensure they are connected to the new system. There is no need for families to sign up or download any additional applications. If parents or guardians wish to stop receiving these notifications, they can reply STOP at any time.
Bus change information will also remain available on the Kanawha County Schools website through the Bus Changes link on the homepage.
The district stated, “This update is designed to improve communication and provide families with timely information to support student safety and transportation planning.”
Parents who do not receive a text message but have a student using school transportation are encouraged to contact the Kanawha County Schools Transportation Department. They can complete a form to be included in future notifications.
