Kanawha County Schools has announced the formation of the KCS Student Leadership Team, an initiative designed to involve students in decision-making processes within their schools and communities.
Each middle, high, and career/technical school in the district will select one or two student representatives. The selection criteria include leadership qualities, strong character, and a commitment to serving others. The district is encouraging applications from students with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
The main objectives for members of the new team are to collaborate on projects that promote belonging, wellness, academic success, and school pride; model positive leadership, communication, and service; and strengthen student voice in shaping the future of Kanawha County Schools.
Selected students will attend meetings with administrators both virtually and in person. They will also participate in collaborative sessions, serve as ambassadors for their school community, share information with peers, and collect input from other students.
Applications for interested students are available through school principals. The deadline for submitting completed applications is December 1.
According to Kanawha County Schools: “The KCS Student Leadership Team represents the district’s ongoing commitment to fostering belonging, encouraging student voice, and developing the next generation of community leaders.”
