Kanawha County Schools will open registration for its preschool program for the 2026-2027 academic year starting February 1, 2026. The program is available at no cost to families and aims to provide children with a strong educational foundation.

The district states that its preschool curriculum supports children’s developmental, academic, and social-emotional needs. Certified teachers and staff lead age-appropriate instruction designed to encourage curiosity, creativity, and a positive attitude toward learning. The program’s focus is on preparing children for success in kindergarten and beyond.

Eligibility requirements specify that children must be four years old on or before June 30, 2026, to enroll in the full-day preschool program.

Families interested in registering can visit the KCS Preschool Registration webpage to complete an online application form. Required documents include the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, dental record, most recent well-child visit report, and income verification for Head Start applicants.

Enrollment operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Early registration increases the likelihood of obtaining a spot at a preferred location.

A statement from Kanawha County Schools reads: “We believe every child deserves a strong educational foundation, and our preschool program is the first step in building that foundation. By enrolling your child in Kanawha County Schools Preschool, you are joining a community that values learning, inclusion, and student success.”

For further details or assistance with registration, families can contact the Preschool Office by phone or email.
