Two robotics teams from Kanawha County Schools have qualified for the 2025 World Championship. The teams are The Coding Corgis from Chamberlin Elementary School and The Bot Squad from Cedar Grove Elementary School.
The Coding Corgis secured their spot by winning the Design Award at this year’s state competition. This award acknowledges a team’s professional approach to the engineering design process, including project management, time management, and team organization. “To be chosen for first place in this category, the Coding Corgi’s demonstrated to the judges their ability to work together as a team using strong communication skills,” according to the press release.
The Bot Squad earned their place by receiving the Excellence Award. This accolade is given to a team that excels in both judged and performance award categories. It includes all criteria from the Design Award with an added emphasis on on-field performance.
Both teams will compete in Dallas, Texas, from May 12th to May 14th at the World Championship. “Congratulations to The Coding Corgis and The Bot Squad for earning a spot on the world stage! Good luck competing and have fun!” stated Kanawha County Schools.
Kanawha County Schools expressed pride in all KCS teams participating in this year’s state championship, noting that competition levels continue to rise each year.
