Rep. Carol Miller, a U.S. Congresswoman representing West Virginia’s 1st district, has used her social media platform to address current issues facing Congress and to highlight the importance of manufacturing in America.

Later that day, she commented on the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on military personnel and lawmakers’ paychecks. In her post dated October 1, 2025, Miller stated: “If our troops aren’t getting paid, then neither should Congress. I’m refusing a salary until the #SchumerShutdown ends.”
Two days later, on Manufacturing Day, Miller expressed appreciation for American workers in the sector. On October 3, 2025, she wrote: “Manufacturing is the backbone of America’s economy. This #MFGDay25, I want to thank the men and women who keep our state and country humming and inspire the next generation of creators and innovators.”
Miller has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Evan Jenkins as representative for West Virginia’s 1st district. Before her tenure in Washington D.C., she was a member of the West Virginia House of Delegates from 2006 to 2018. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1950 and currently residing in Huntington at age 72, Miller graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College in South Carolina in 1972.
