U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, Chairman of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, conducted a business meeting to review the nominations of Sean McMaster for Administrator of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), John Busterud for Assistant Administrator for the Office of Solid Waste at the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and Adam Telle for Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works.

The committee favorably reported all three nominations, which will now proceed to the full U.S. Senate for consideration.

Senator Capito expressed gratitude to her colleagues during her opening statement. She highlighted Sean McMaster’s extensive government service experience and his recent work in private sector transportation companies, stating that his background makes him well-suited to lead the FHWA.

John Busterud was recognized for his 31 years practicing environmental law and previous role as Regional Administrator for the EPA’s Pacific Southwest Region. His military service was also noted, with Capito mentioning that his experience has prepared him to address significant environmental challenges.

Adam Telle’s two decades of public service were emphasized, including his work in the United States Senate and as a Special Assistant to President Trump. His familiarity with the Army Corps’ disaster response efforts was cited as making him an excellent choice to lead its Civil Works program.

Senator Capito concluded by urging her colleagues to support these nominees, confident they would focus on achieving their agencies’ core missions and adhering to Congressional laws.
