U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito from West Virginia has expressed her approval of a resolution that marks May 12-17 as National Police Week. This resolution, which received unanimous support in the Senate, emphasizes ongoing backing for law enforcement officers nationwide.
“Our law enforcement officers in West Virginia and across the country wake up every day and choose to protect and serve our communities first and foremost—even if it means putting themselves in harm’s way. During National Police Week, I’m proud to join my Senate colleagues in honoring their heroism and reaffirming my steadfast support for these brave men and women,” stated Senator Capito.
The tradition of passing a resolution each year during National Police Week has been upheld by Congress for over sixty years. This week is dedicated to recognizing the service, sacrifice, and bravery of law enforcement officers and their families, with special attention given to those who have fallen in the line of duty.
