Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito visited Kanawha Valley Senior Services (KVSS) in Charleston, West Virginia. During her visit, she toured the facility and met with both the KVSS management team and local seniors. This visit was part of the “Meals on Wheels America Network’s Community Champion’s Week,” providing an opportunity for Senator Capito to gain insights into the health and nutrition programs offered by the facility, including Meals on Wheels.

Senator Capito expressed her appreciation for the work being done at KVSS. “I was glad to visit Kanawha Valley Senior Services during Meals on Wheels America’s Community Champions Week to see firsthand the incredible work they do for our seniors. The dedication of KVSS and its volunteers is truly inspiring, and I will continue doing what I can in the Senate to support their mission and help our seniors live independently and with dignity,” she stated.

Melanie Hirst, Executive Director of KVSS, also commented on the visit. “Kanawha Valley Senior Services would like to thank Senator Capito for visiting our offices to learn about senior nutrition and the multitude of programs we offer to seniors throughout the community,” she said.

The event highlighted ongoing efforts by local organizations like KVSS to provide essential services that promote independence and dignity among senior citizens.
