Senator Jim Justice marked National Medal of Honor Day on March 25, 2026, by announcing the passage of his Hershel “Woody” Williams National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act and honoring recipients of the nation’s highest military award.

In a post dated March 26, 2026, Justice wrote: “Today, on National Medal of Honor Day, we celebrated in a big way by passing my Hershel “Woody” Williams National Medal of Honor Monument Location Act. I thank these incredible Medal of Honor recipients for joining. True heroes!”

Reflecting on his personal connection to West Virginia and the bill’s namesake, Justice posted: “My mind goes back home to West Virginia, and to the namesake of this bill, Woody Williams. That makes this win even more meaningful to me. Woody, this one is for you!” (March 26, 2026).

Later that day he added: “Medal of Honor recipients have run headfirst into danger to protect this great nation in the most extraordinary way. Truth be told, I don’t know if many of us have that kind of grit, strength, and courage. I’m proud their names will live forever on the National Mall.” (March 26, 2026).
