U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from West Virginia, recently posted a series of messages on her social media account addressing topics ranging from the passing of a fellow public servant to educational achievements and military service.
On April 17, 2026, Capito expressed condolences for the loss of David McKinley, stating, “My heart is heavy after hearing about the passing of David McKinley. He was a fighter. Not only did David fight for his principles and the causes he believed in, but he also fought hardest for his cherished West Virginia. As a proud eighth generation West Virginian, he espoused”.
