U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito, the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from West Virginia, addressed a range of policy issues in a series of posts on March 25, 2026.
On election security, Capito wrote, “Voter ID ensures the safety and security of our elections. It’s simple: American elections should be for American citizens” (March 25, 2026).
Addressing sports participation and gender, Capito posted later that day: “As a mother and grandmother of women in sports, and an athlete myself, keeping transgender athletes out of women’s sports is a deeply personal issue to me. Female athletes should not have to go into a competition worrying if they’ll get injured from a male athlete during a” (March 25, 2026).
