On July 19, 2025, Capito commented on leadership changes at West Virginia University: “While @GordonGee’s presence as @WestVirginiaU President will be missed, we know that he will continue to make a difference in West Virginia. The legacy he has built will continue to be felt for generations to come.” E. Gordon Gee has served multiple terms as president of West Virginia University and is recognized for his influence on higher education in the state.
