On December 17, 2025, Senator Capito highlighted key elements of the year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), stating: “This year’s NDAA:
Authorizes a pay raise for service members.
Includes numerous provisions to improve efficiency at the Pentagon and support its audit efforts.
Requires that all military command selections be based on individual merit and demonstrated performance.”
The following day, December 18, she posted about a meeting with leaders from the Green Bank Observatory. In her words: “It was great to welcome Tony Remijan, director of the Green Bank Observatory to Washington. I appreciated hearing about the inspiring things happening at GBO from Director Remijan and Tony Beasley.” The Green Bank Observatory is located in West Virginia and is known for its contributions to radio astronomy research.
Later on December 18, Senator Capito addressed broadband infrastructure needs in her state. As states finalize their BEAD deployment plans, many will have remaining resources that can and should be put to work supporting the long-term success of” The BEAD program refers to federal efforts aimed at expanding broadband access across underserved regions of the United States.
