Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Senator from West Virginia and the first woman elected to the Senate from the state, highlighted her recent activities in a series of posts on social media between May 2 and May 4, 2026.

On May 2, Capito recounted a visit with Secretary Duffy in Wheeling, stating, “Back in February, I had the pleasure of showing Secretary Duffy around @CityofWheeling during his Great American Road Trip. We visited local landmarks, ongoing projects, and grabbed a slice for the road @dicarlospizza. Happy to give @SecDuffy a glimpse of almost heaven!”

The following day, she described hosting a discussion focused on drug treatment and prevention efforts: “ICYMI: Held a productive roundtable with @ONDCP and @DrugCzar47 this week. Great to hear Director Carter’s future plans and discuss ideas with local officials. The treatment and prevention of drug use and abuse is a major priority, and conversations like these are crucial for” (posted May 3).

On May 4, Capito marked National Small Business Week by acknowledging entrepreneurs across West Virginia: “This week is National Small Business Week! Our small businesses in West Virginia play a vital role in our local economy and I couldn’t be prouder of our hardworking entrepreneurs for their dedication to our state. Across the nation, small businesses are seeing permanent tax”.

Capito has long dedicated her career to public service for West Virginia (official website). She grew up in Glen Dale as a seventh-generation West Virginian and holds degrees from Duke University and the University of Virginia.
