Senator Shelley Moore Capito, representing West Virginia, used her social media platform in early January 2026 to highlight recent legislative actions and collaborations involving the Senate GOP. On January 5, Capito stated that “Despite historic obstruction from Democrats, @SenateGOP confirmed a record number of @POTUS’ nominees in 2025. We will continue that momentum and work to ensure President Trump has his team in place.”

The following day, Capito addressed regulatory changes enacted by the Republican-controlled Senate. On January 6, she posted: “When Republicans took control of the Senate last year, we got to work undoing burdensome and expensive Biden regulations. As a part of that important effort, we repealed a record 23 bad Biden regulations through the Congressional Review Act. I was proud to lead the charge”.

On January 7, Capito highlighted her collaboration with state officials by welcoming West Virginia Senator Robbie Morris to Washington D.C. She wrote: “It was great to welcome WV Senator Robbie Morris to D.C. yesterday! Robbie works tirelessly for our state and I’m so grateful for his friendship and partnership on crucial issues for West Virginia like Corridor H, broadband, and infrastructure.”

Shelley Moore Capito is the senior United States senator from West Virginia and has served since 2015. The Congressional Review Act allows Congress to overturn federal regulations within a certain time frame after they are finalized by federal agencies.
