Shelley Moore Capito, U.S. Senator from West Virginia and the first woman elected to the Senate from the state, highlighted recent achievements and developments in West Virginia through a series of social media posts on March 31 and April 1, 2026.
On March 31, Capito celebrated national recognition for one of West Virginia’s natural landmarks. She wrote, “So great to see @NewRiverNPS named the #1 underrated vacation destination by @usnews! I was proud to lead the effort to redesignate the New River Gorge as a National Park and Preserve in 2020—an achievement that has helped showcase one of West Virginia’s greatest treasures on a”.
Later that day, Capito turned her attention to aerospace advancements with a message of support for NASA’s Artemis II mission. She stated, “Godspeed @NASAArtemis II and @NASA_Orion on your journey around the moon. @Constellium-Ravenswood produces advanced and conventional aluminum plates for both the SLS rocket and Orion Crew Module encompassing the entire metallic structure.”
On April 1, Capito marked an economic milestone in Raleigh County. She posted, “Proud to be in Raleigh County today with @Amazon and many of our community leaders to celebrate the opening of Amazon’s Beaver facility.
