U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has highlighted the impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act and expressed criticism of Democratic colleagues in a series of posts on her official social media account.

On April 13, 2026, Capito wrote, “This tax season is about putting financial power back into the American people’s hands thanks to the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. No tax on tips No tax on overtime No tax on Social Security”.

The following day, Capito criticized Democrats for their stance on immigration enforcement. On April 14, 2026, she posted, “Democrats continue to support anti-ICE efforts over the safety of the American people. As members of Congress, we take an oath to put our country above all else. My Democrat colleagues continuously fail to remember that promise they made when they first stepped into office.”

Later that same day, Capito returned to the topic of tax policy: “This year, families are reaping the benefits of the Working Families Tax Cuts Act. With tax returns averaging more than $3,500, refunds are up over 11%. With new tax cuts putting more money back into people’s pockets, tax season never looked so good.”

Senator Capito represents West Virginia and has dedicated her career to public service in her home state (official website). She became the first woman elected to the U.S. Senate from West Virginia and serves on several key Senate committees including Appropriations; Commerce, Science, and Transportation; and Environment and Public Works (official website). Her legislative priorities include infrastructure investment and broadband expansion.

Born in Glen Dale as a seventh-generation West Virginian, Capito holds degrees from Duke University and the University of Virginia (official website). She lives with her husband Charles and is a mother and grandmother.
