Senator Shelley Moore Capito, who represents West Virginia in the U.S. Senate, has recently shared a series of posts on her social media account reflecting on the loss of two prominent figures and discussing legislative updates at a state business summit.
On August 26, 2025, Capito expressed condolences for the passing of Justice Tim Armstead. She wrote, “Our hearts are broken to learn of the passing of our dear friend, Justice Tim Armstead, who was a compassionate, strong, and loyal leader. Tim and I shared many wonderful moments over the years, and I will always treasure his friendship and the example he set. Charlie and I https://t.co/DVWpN3LzSB”.
The following day, on August 27, 2025, Capito acknowledged the contributions of journalist John Miller. She stated, “Deeply saddened by the sudden passing of John Miller. John’s four decades of journalism left a permanent mark on West Virginia, and I was fortunate to know and respect him. My prayers are with his family and the entire @WVNews247 family as we remember his remarkable legacy.”
On August 28, 2025, Capito participated in the West Virginia Business Summit. In her post she said, “Great to be back at the #WVBusinessSummit to give an update on the latest from the U.S. Senate – particularly how the One Big Beautiful Bill will positively impact our state and how the @SenateGOP is pushing forward on the conservative agenda. https://t.co/AED0qfoR2N”
Justice Tim Armstead served as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia until his death in 2025 after several years on the bench. John Miller was a respected journalist whose reporting spanned more than forty years in West Virginia media outlets.
