50 percent of applicants to the University of Charleston were admitted for fall 2018

At the University of Charleston, 60 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 56 percent are male, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Charleston enrolled 2,623 students in fall 2018, including 1,930 in undergraduate and 693 in graduate programs, data shows. 14.7 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

63 percent of undergraduates are residents of West Virginia, and 27 percent are residents of other states. 10 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (49 percent) and Black or African American (9 percent).

The school admitted 50 percent of the 2,283 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 26 percent enrolled.
