No. 9 Herd Men’s Soccer Travels to Elon for First Round of 2022 NCAA Men’s Soccer Tournament

The No. 9 Marshall University men's soccer team (10-3-3) travels to Elon, North Carolina, to take on the Elon Phoenix (11-4-3) Thursday night in the first round of the 2022 NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament.

Freshman Matthew Bell finished the regular season with nine goals as redshirt senior Milo Yosef collected eight finishing in a tie for third and fifth, respectively, in the Sun Belt. Yosef tallied four game-winning goals to lead the conference.


Goalkeeper Oliver Semmle has a .762 goals against average and .745 save percentage, second and third in the conference.


Junior Adam Aoumaich has nine assists on the year to lead Marshall and rank second in the SBC.


Marshall is entering its fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament and has been ranked in every United Soccer Coaches Poll since October 15, 2019.


Scouting Elon

The Phoenix fell to Hofstra in the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament final.


Ryan Bilichuk has 11 shutouts this season, tied for second most in the country, to go with .61 goals against average, eighth overall in NCAA Division I men's soccer.

Elon's .61 goals against average ranks eighth in the nation.

The two programs are tied 1-1 in the all-time series with Elon taking the last matchup in 2009, 2-0.
