City Refuse Collection to Be Modified for Thanksgiving, on Regular Schedule for Christmas and New Years

The City of Charleston Public Works Department today announced City refuse collection will only be modified the week of Thanksgiving – collection will be unaffected the week of Christmas and New Year’s Day. Automated calls will be placed to households whose refuse is picked up by the City on November 16 and December 21 as a proactive effort to inform residents of the upcoming holiday collection schedule.

Week of Thanksgiving (November 20 – 26)

If your trash is normally picked up on Tuesday, it will be picked up Monday (November 21).

If your trash is normally picked up on Wednesday, it will be picked up Tuesday (November 22).

If your trash is normally picked up on Thursday, it will be picked up Wednesday (November 23).

If your trash is normally picked up on Friday, it will be picked up Friday (November 25)

*No trash will be collected Thanksgiving Day.  

Week of Christmas (December 25 – 31)

The collection schedule is unaffected – trash will be picked up on normal schedule.

Week of New Year’s (January 1 – 7)

The collection schedule is unaffected – trash will be picked up on normal schedule.
