City of Charleston: Mayor Goodwin Announces Dates For City-wide Clean Up

Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin announced the Spring 2023 Team Up to Clean Up events will take place on April 15 and 29 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The city-wide clean up is a partnership between the City of Charleston and the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection Rehabilitation Environmental Action Plan’s Make It Shine Program. Local businesses, organizations, and members of the community are encouraged to join the City to clean and beautify Charleston.

“Our city-wide clean up events are a great way to strengthen our sense of community, get in a few steps, network with other groups and individuals, and beautify our streets and neighborhoods,” said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. “We are thrilled to, once again, work alongside our community members, local businesses and organizations, to Team Up to Clean Up!”   

Team Up to Clean Up Dates & Info

April 15: West Side, North Charleston, Bigley Avenue

Supply pick up location: Mary C. Snow Elementary School, 100 Florida Street  

April 29: Kanawha City, South Hills, East End, Downtown

Supply pick up location: Kanawha City Community Center, 3511 Venable Avenue

Clean up supplies, t-shirts, snacks, and waters will be provided.  Anyone with a litter picker from a past clean up is encouraged to bring their own as the City has a limited supply of pickers.

Anyone interested in participating is encouraged to complete the online form which includes the Volunteer Waiver and Release Form in advance of the Team Up to Clean Up events.

Fifty-three tons of refuse was collected during the 2022 Team Up to Clean Up events.
