Charleston Preview
UC will continue their 17-game home stand with four more games at Segra Field this weekend. Robbie Britt's squad is 16-1 at home this season with their sole loss coming to Ohio Dominican in their second series of the home stand.
Britt is just two wins shy of eclipsing the century mark for wins at the University of Charleston. With at least a series split this weekend, Britt would be the fastest coach to reach 100 wins in school history. Over the last 3.5 years Britt's teams are 98-40 overall and 54-11 in MEC play.
The Golden Eagles are currently atop the Mountain East Conference Standings at 4-0 and are No. 6 in the latest NCBWA Atlantic Region Poll.
The Charleston pitching staff has been dominant this season, throwing 163.0 innings with a team ERA of 3.98. That ERA is best in the MEC, outpacing second place Frostburg State by almost a run.
Golden Eagle starting pitchers have a combined ERA of 4.73 compared to a bullpen ERA of a stellar 3.38.
Leading the way is Senior Caleb Rush who has yet to allow an earned run this year in 10.0 IP. Rush has allowed just three hits while collecting 10 strikeouts and one save.
Cole Peschl has done a bulk of the heavy lifting out of the pen this season. He's thrown 16.1 innings with a 2.76 ERA and a team leading three saves. Peschl has fanned 18 and allowed 15 hits this season.
Robby Shepherd has dominated as well. The Junior right hander has a 2.45 ERA in 11.0 innings of work with 14 strikeouts and two saves.
Sophomore Kyle West is leading Charleston on offense with a .333 average and a team leading six home runs. He is also slugging a team best .754 with 15 extra base hits in 69 at bats. West has stolen 10 bases which leads the team and has worked 17 walks for a .472 OBP. West leads the team in hits, stolen bases, runs scored, doubles, triples, and home runs.
Giano Zuccaro leads the team in OBP at .494. He's worked 16 free passes and a team best 10 hit by pitches.

Frostburg's pitching staff has a team ERA of 4.93 with 74 strikeouts. Max Proctor leads qualified starters with a 2.61 ERA in 20.2 IP. He has 30 strikeouts, nine walks and opponents are hitting .280 against the junior right hander.
Will Grove is leading the bullpen with a 3.86 ERA in 16.1 IP. Grove has struck out nine and walked seven.
