U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito and Miss Morgantown Sarah Lojewski recently brought the West Virginia Girls Rise Up program to Anna Jarvis Elementary School in Grafton, W.Va. The event aimed to promote female empowerment, education, fitness, and self-confidence among young girls. Senator Capito emphasized the importance of building each other up to achieve goals, stating, "There is no question that these students are dedicated to setting new goals and achieving them."
Miss Morgantown Sarah Lojewski expressed her excitement about collaborating with Senator Capito, highlighting the rewarding experience of empowering young girls. She shared her eagerness to continue empowering young girls across the state to feel confident and proud of who they are.
Heather Sinclair, the Principal of Anna Jarvis Elementary School, expressed gratitude for the visit, stating, "It was exciting to see how they worked together to inspire these young women to become the next generation of female leaders for West Virginia." She acknowledged the impact of Senator Capito and Miss Morgantown's presence on the students.
Senator Capito initiated the West Virginia Girls Rise Up program in 2015 with a focus on instilling confidence and empowering young women to be strong and kind leaders. Miss Morgantown Sarah Lojewski's initiative, "Level the Playing Field," aims to establish equality and equal opportunity for all in sports, emphasizing empowerment for women and girls in the sports realm.
In the U.S. Senate, Senator Capito has been actively promoting opportunities for girls and women in sports. She recently joined a bipartisan resolution marking "National Girls & Women in Sports Day" and played a key role in the Equal Pay for Team USA Act, ensuring equal pay and benefits for all athletes representing the United States in global competitions.
