WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Appropriations Defense Subcommittee, released a statement regarding her vote on the national security supplemental package.

Senator Capito expressed deep concerns about the current global threat level, stating, "Our nation is facing the most dangerous global threat level we have seen in decades." She highlighted various challenges, including attacks on allies, a weakened national security industrial base, and the national security threat posed by TikTok. She also pointed out the collaborative efforts of adversaries like China, Russia, and Iran against the U.S. and its allies.

In response to these threats, Senator Capito emphasized the importance of the national security supplemental passed, stating, "Tonight, we stand for our freedom and with our allies." She outlined that the legislation aims to strengthen the industrial base, replenish munition stockpiles with advanced weapons - some of which are manufactured in West Virginia, and address concerns regarding the influence of the Chinese Communist Party through provisions related to TikTok.

Senator Capito concluded by affirming her support for the legislation, saying, "I was proud to vote in support of this legislation, which equips our country with the resources to restore American deterrence and resolve as the beacon of freedom we must continue to be for the world."
