U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) attended the West Virginia National Guard’s (WVNG) 2nd annual Military Spouse Appreciation Day luncheon in Charleston, W.Va. on Friday, May 3, 2024. During the event, Senator Capito emphasized the importance of recognizing the vital role played by military spouses.
Senator Capito expressed her gratitude towards military families, stating, “While one person in the family might wear the uniform, we know that every member of the family serves.” She further added, “Our country and our state are eternally grateful for the spouses and families of the WVNG who consistently display resilience, strength, and dedication. West Virginia is privileged to have such a professional National Guard – with dedicated families – that are effective in both state and national missions. I was honored to share my support for them today."
The event aimed to honor and acknowledge the contributions and sacrifices made by military spouses in supporting their service members within the WVNG. Senator Capito took the opportunity to interact with WVNG members and their families, showing her solidarity and appreciation for their commitment and sacrifices.
