CHARLESTON, W.Va. – This morning, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) discussed important issues on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria.” Senator Capito addressed the concerning rise of antisemitism on college campuses and criticized the Biden administration's response to the issue. She emphasized the need for a stronger stance against antisemitism, stating, "Antisemitism should be extinguished in this country. It has to come from the president, and he's had a very weak response."
Senator Capito also expressed disappointment in Secretary Cardona's refusal to send investigators to witness firsthand the antisemitic incidents at Columbia University. She highlighted the importance of taking action against discrimination on college campuses, stating, "This has to come, as I said earlier, from the top."
Furthermore, Senator Capito raised concerns about the Biden administration's priorities regarding the handling of American hostages in Gaza and the plan to bring Palestinian refugees to the U.S. before securing the release of American captives. She criticized the administration's approach, questioning the fairness and effectiveness of their decisions, particularly in light of existing hostage situations and past actions regarding Afghan interpreters.
In addition to addressing antisemitism, Senator Capito expressed strong opposition to the EPA's anti-energy regulations, labeling them as illegal and potentially harmful to the country's energy security. She highlighted the detrimental impact these regulations could have on coal plants in her state, leading to job losses, increased electricity rates, and grid instability. Senator Capito emphasized the need to overturn these regulations to ensure a reliable energy supply for the future and to support allies facing energy challenges.
Senator Capito's remarks underscored the importance of addressing critical issues such as campus antisemitism and energy regulations, calling for decisive action and stronger leadership to safeguard the interests of the nation and its citizens.
