U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) attended the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce’s 88th Annual Meeting and Business Summit this week, participating in various events with business and community leaders. Kirsten Hillman, Ambassador of Canada to the United States, also participated at Senator Capito's invitation.

On Wednesday, Senator Capito engaged with the West Virginia Manufacturing Association Chemical Industry Committee during a roundtable discussion on regulatory and policy developments affecting businesses in West Virginia.

On Thursday, she joined a discussion hosted by the American Clean Power Association involving federal officials, state leaders, and industry executives. The focus was on potential collaborations to enhance energy development and job creation in West Virginia.

Senator Capito later addressed the entire summit, providing updates from the U.S. Senate. She moderated a conversation with Ambassador Hillman discussing West Virginia’s relationship with Canada. They also led a roundtable discussion with business, state, and federal leaders on expanding bilateral opportunities between West Virginia and Canada.

“The Business Summit is something I look forward to every year as it is an opportunity to connect with so many of the individuals that help make our state the best place to live, work, and raise a family,” Senator Capito said. “The future of West Virginia depends on our ability to foster a pro-business, pro-growth environment in our communities, and summits like this one play a big part in that. While West Virginia has experienced some major economic wins, we need to make sure that we keep the focus to continue this positive economic momentum.”
