U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito announced a series of grants from various federal agencies to support multiple projects across West Virginia. These funds, championed by Capito, will address healthcare, research, environmental cleanup, infrastructure, public safety, rural development, education, and economic development.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has allocated several grants for health services and research projects in the state. Notable allocations include $1.4 million for the West Virginia State Department of Health's Hospital Preparedness Program and another $1.4 million for maternal and child health services.

Environmental initiatives received significant backing through the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protections secured over $22 million to finance drinking water improvement projects.

Education in Appalachia will benefit from $7 million in funding from the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC), aimed at implementing innovative teaching models in middle schools.

Transportation infrastructure also received attention with nearly $1 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for bridge replacement using Orthotropic Steel Deck technology.

Public safety measures are supported by more than $7 million from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) aimed at reducing overdose deaths and supporting crime prevention programs.

Rural development efforts were bolstered by substantial funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), including over $2 million for energy efficiency equipment installations across various locations.

Senator Capito emphasized her commitment to securing resources that promote growth and safety in West Virginia communities through these diverse funding streams.
