U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.) delivered a speech on the Senate floor, addressing concerns over government waste and advocating for increased efficiency through the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). In her remarks, Capito emphasized the need to curb what she described as rampant waste, fraud, and abuse within federal spending.

Capito criticized spending under President Biden's administration, stating that "wasteful government spending spiraled out of control," affecting American workers and taxpayers. She expressed confidence in the incoming Republican government's commitment to accountability and reducing excess spending.

Highlighting the role of DOGE, Capito thanked Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy for their contributions to creating the department aimed at identifying and eliminating government waste. She stated that Congress would work alongside DOGE to address significant abuses within federal bureaucracy.

Focusing on her jurisdiction with the Environment and Public Works Committee, Capito criticized the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), claiming it authorized billions in new funding with insufficient oversight. She pointed out that some grants went to groups she described as anti-American or having radical agendas.

Capito cited examples such as $50 million allocated to the Climate Justice Alliance and New York Immigrant Coalition each, and $100 million to the NDN Collective. She argued that these organizations should not receive taxpayer funds due to their controversial stances.

Concluding her speech, Capito called for adopting West Virginia's budget management approach at a federal level. She affirmed Republicans' dedication to ending reckless spending and ensuring taxpayer money benefits Americans directly.
