U.S. Senators Shelley Moore Capito and Sheldon Whitehouse have announced the subcommittee assignments for the Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee for the 119th Congress. Capito, serving as Chairman, emphasized the significance of these subcommittees in addressing infrastructure, energy, and environmental challenges. "Each of these subcommittees play an important role in developing solutions that tackle the infrastructure, energy, and environment challenges within EPW’s jurisdiction," she stated.
Whitehouse, as Ranking Member, highlighted the broad range of issues covered by these subcommittees: "Our subcommittees cover many issues that are essential to ensuring clean air, clean water, a healthy climate, and modern infrastructure."
The Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee will be chaired by Senator Kevin Cramer with Senator Angela Alsobrooks serving as Ranking Member. The Clean Air, Climate, and Nuclear Innovation and Safety Subcommittee will see Senator Cynthia Lummis as Chairman while Senator Mark Kelly takes on the role of Ranking Member.
Senator John Curtis has been appointed Chairman of the Chemical Safety, Waste Management, Environmental Justice, and Regulatory Oversight Subcommittee. Jeff Merkley is designated as its Ranking Member.
For Fisheries, Wildlife, and Water Subcommittee leadership roles are assigned to Senator Pete Ricketts as Chairman with Adam Schiff as Ranking Member.
These appointments reflect a bipartisan effort to address critical environmental concerns through structured legislative focus areas within each subcommittee's jurisdiction.
