U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito has announced her support for Chris Wright as the new Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy. Following a vote in favor, Senator Capito released a statement highlighting Wright's understanding of energy needs and cost reduction.

"Chris Wright understands the need to unleash American energy and bring down costs," said Capito. She emphasized West Virginia's significant role in reestablishing national energy dominance, a topic discussed during their recent meeting.

Senator Capito expressed her enthusiasm about working with Wright and the Trump administration to reduce regulatory hurdles and promote solutions that will bolster the energy sector and create essential jobs. "I was proud to vote to confirm Mr. Wright to lead the Department of Energy," she stated.

The senator had previously met with Wright in January to discuss his nomination and explore his vision for leading the department.
