U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito visited Petersburg and Moorefield in West Virginia to discuss economic development and broadband expansion. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Capito met with local leaders and business professionals.

In Petersburg, she discussed Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) awards for Grant County. The awards will fund a new Ambulance Headquarters and a trail project. "When I began the process of congressionally directed spending, I did so in consultation with leaders like those on the county commission and local businesses here in Grant County," said Senator Capito. She emphasized the importance of these projects for improving life quality in the area.

Callie Dayton from Clearway highlighted their role in supporting emergency services near Mount Storm. "This partnership was made possible thanks to the tremendous and insightful feedback that we received from area residents, landowners, and public service officials on the community's most pressing needs," Dayton stated.

Later, Senator Capito visited Hardy Telecommunications in Moorefield to discuss broadband accessibility efforts. "Expanding broadband access is critical to West Virginia’s growth," she noted, stressing its importance for education, healthcare, and economic development.
