U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito visited Petersburg and Moorefield in West Virginia to engage with community leaders and business professionals on economic development and broadband expansion. In Petersburg, she discussed Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) awards aimed at benefiting Grant County.
Senator Capito secured two Fiscal Year 2024 CDS awards for the construction of a new ambulance headquarters in Mt. Storm and the expansion of a local trail. "When I began the process of congressionally directed spending, I did so in consultation with leaders like those on the county commission and local businesses here in Grant County," said Senator Capito. She emphasized that these projects would enhance the quality of life for residents.
Callie Dayton, Clearway's External Affairs Manager, expressed gratitude for the collaboration, stating, “This partnership was made possible thanks to the tremendous and insightful feedback that we received from area residents.” Dayton highlighted Clearway's commitment to investing in West Virginia.
Later, Senator Capito visited Hardy Telecommunications in Moorefield to discuss broadband accessibility efforts. "Expanding broadband access is critical to West Virginia’s growth," she stated, emphasizing its importance for education, healthcare, and economic development.
