Sign-ups for the Kanawha County Schools' (KCS) Summer Camp and Third Base child care program will commence on April 1, 2025. The Summer Camp, which operates from June 9 to August 1, offers both recreational and educational activities under the supervision of experienced staff. This program, open to all students regardless of school affiliation, will take place at Central, Elk, Flinn, and Overbrook Elementary schools. Daily activities include field trips to locations such as a swimming pool, a bowling alley, and movie theaters, from Monday to Friday, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:40 p.m.
Meanwhile, the Third Base program provides after-school care for kindergarten through fifth-grade students. It is a private pay service offered through the KCS Community Education Program. The weekly fee for the 2025-2026 session will be $70 for one child, $100 for two children, and $125 for three children, with an additional $10 registration fee per family payable on the first day of attendance. The program will start on August 18, 2025.
Parents or guardians looking to enroll their children in either program can do so starting April 1 through the KCS Community Education Program.
